John Fitzgerald Kennedy Short Biography

Born on 29 May 1917 in Brookline, Massachusetts, United States John Fitzgerald Kennedy was the 35th president of the United States, he served his presidency during the height of the Cold-War.

Kennedy had a very sickly childhood, in September 1936 he enrolled in Harvard College after leaving Princeton the year before due to health complications.

During his senior year of college, he wrote his popular thesis; Why England Slept, which was sold as a book. He graduated cum laude in 1940 with a degree of Bachelor of Arts in government.

In 1941 Kennedy enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was discharged 4 years later, he suffered an injury to his back during his service, and because of this was in pain all his life.

Kennedy ran for Congress in 1946 and won in November of the same year, where he served for 6 years. He ran for Senate in 1952 and won, during his time in Senate, Kennedy published his book; Profile in Courage in 1956, which won him a Pulitzer Prize for Biography in the following year.

John F. Kennedy was sworn into the presidency on January 20, 1961. During his time as president, he effectively boosted the U.S. economy and established the Peace Corps, a program that allows Americans to aid underdeveloped countries.
